Visa’s Payment Software Could Boost Mobile Marketing

The release of the G1 phone, which features Google’s Android platform, has been a catalyst for companies to market their products through mobile. One of the companies taking advantage of the opportunity for mobile marketing is Visa, Inc. Development of Visa’s mobile payment software shows promise, as it will deliver many features that will bring convenience to the banking process. Users with the Visa software will receive near real-time alerts, find nearby ATMs based on mapping technology as well as find nearby stores in which users can redeem special Visa offers. Additionally, those with Visa cards affiliated with Chase bank will be the first to have access to the software.

It seems as those Visa is taking the first steps in what may be the future of mobile marketing.  For instance, companies can use Visa’s mapping technology and apply it to their business. A restaurant chain can send users alerts when they are near one of their restaurants, and can send special coupons and/or promotions to their subscribers, creating a wider and more engaged audience. Visa’s payment software is only the beginning of what is yet to be seen with mobile marketing.
