Bing Travel Announced after Decision Engine Launches

Last week, Microsoft announced the unveiling of its new decision engine, Bing. Since then, the release of Bing has brought on much attention, and many users are flocking over to see what the new engine can do for them. One of Bing’s newest focus for its engine is the addition of Bing Travel to its vertical. Bing Travel was possible partly due to Microsoft’s acquisition of Farecast. What is Bing Travel and how does it work?

According to Tech Crunch, “Bing Travel is one of the initiatives that Microsoft is launching to differentiate Bing from traditional search engines which mostly provide information and links instead of tools that help visitors make more informed decision quicker. Customers will be able to take advantage of tools and features like Price Predictor (designed to forecast how airfare prices are going to evolve), Rate Indicator (set up to highlight the best hotel deals), but also Travel Deals, Comparison Flight & Hotel Search, and Fare Alerts”. Will this be the boost Microsoft needs to level the playing field against Google and Yahoo? Only time will determine whether or not users stick with Bing, or are visiting the decision engine because of its newness.
