Blip.tv, which is a video startup company made many announcements today. The site, which is known for its emphasis on independent television, has partnered with several big name sites. ReadWriteWeb states, “Thanks to all the new partnerships announced, including those with YouTube, Vimeo, Roku, and NBC, content creators can send their videos straight to these new sites and services – and even to set-top boxes that allow viewers to watch the content on the big screen TV in their living room”. This is big for users who wish to publish their videos onto blip.tv, since they will now have more avenues for which to syndicate.
Blip.tv will also incorporate analytics as well as advertisement options with partnerships through TubeMogul and FreeWheel. The new dashboard will also make it easier for users to upload content. How will the integration of independent television with mainstream social media outlets affect the way in which we watch television and use the web for entertainment?
