Facebook Changes URL Policy
July 23, 2009 by admin · Filed Under Social Media, Uncategorized, facebook
When Facebook announced that it would allow users to choose a custom username, they were warned that they could never change it, so they had to be sure on what name to pick. This has since changed and Facebook is allowing its users to change their usernames. However, users can only make the change once (at least, for the time being). There are several reasons as to why sites do not allow for multiple changes to a username—URL redirects would become tedious and time consuming for one. Many sites have created policies for name changes. For instance, blogging giant, Livejournal allows its users to change their usernames for a fee.
Facebook has been quiet about its username policy change. To change your username, writes ReadWriteWeb, “go to “Settings” at the top-right of the Facebook page and then click on “Account Settings.” The second option from the top is “Username.” Press “Change” to enter in your new username and then click “Confirm” when you’re ready to set it”.
