After Breaking with Yahoo, Microsoft Considers Social Network

After the fallout of the Yahoo! and Microsoft merger, many wondered what would become of Yahoo. Rumors were pointed to the possibility of Google ads appearing in Yahoo searches. But what will become of Microsoft? After all, Microsoft would have greatly benefited from the merger.
Although not widely covered as the Yahoo and Google deal, Microsoft too, has extended its invitation to other websites for mergers. Among the sites are AOL, Myspace and Facebook. The site that looks the most appealing to Microsoft is Facebook. Last year, Microsoft invested $240 million in Facebook. It has been reported that Microsoft would like to take full acquisition of Facebook. While this would certainly give Microsoft a large competitive edge, the acquisition has not gained momentum. However, if the three month long Yahoo! and Microsoft courtship is any indication of Microsoft’s persistence, one can anticipate Microsoft to keep fighting.
