Businesses Using Twitter to Increase Customer Trust

September 9, 2008 by admin · Filed Under Social Media

Social networks bring people with common interests together, and keep people connected. Twitter has become an emerging social network based on letting users know what one is currently doing. The updates or ‘tweets’ are limited to 140 characters, ideal for quick and easy updates. Businesses have also looked to social networks to raise awareness on their brands and services, and have embraced Twitter.

Businesses are using Twitter to scan users’ profiles to see if they are updating about their brands, as well has becoming a follower of the users that are doing so.  While this may seem like a good idea for businesses, users may be taken aback by having their updates read by companies. However, the key to having good relationships with potential customers is trust. Businesses using Twitter to get close to their customers say they do so to improve customer satisfaction, always there to provide help in any way possible.  Furthermore, businesses appeal more to a regular user if they know a person is behind updating a company’s profile. Having a point of contact between a company and users is the first step in using social networking for businesses successfully.
