Facebook Connect Brings Many Opportunities

December 2, 2008 by · Filed Under Social Media

Facebook Connect is the up and coming innovation brought on by the social networking giant to help streamline the web, bringing people closer with greater ease.  Facebook Connect also hopes to monetize Facebook, something the company has struggled with doing.  Nevertheless, the introduction of Facebook Connect has the potential to revolutionize the way in which users utilize the Internet.

How might browsing the Internet change? According to the New York Times, Facebook Connect “allows its members to log onto other Web sites using their Facebook identification and see their friends’ activities on those sites”.  Facebook Connect then, will need the help over other sites to support this form of open identification. Sites such as the Discovery Channel, The San Francisco Chronicle, Digg, Geni and Hulu have already agreed to incorporate this service into their sites.

How might this help bring in revenue? Facebook hopes that with user information, advertisers would be able to better cater to users, giving them more appropriate ads that will be of value.   Above all, Facebook wishes to remain user-centric, putting their needs before anyone else’s.
