Facebook Lets Users Give Input on Terms of Service

With user-generated content on the rise, it is only natural that companies would look to their users to get insights on what works and what doesn’t. After Facebook’s missteps last week with its changes in terms of service, it was clear that Facebook or any other social network cannot change things abruptly without some backlash. Facebook is now seeking the assistance of its users to help shape its policies.
How will the new policies work? There are two separate proposals. The ‘Facebook Principles’ will lay out Facebook’s positions on privacy and control of information, whereas the ‘Statement of Rights and Responsibilities’ is more of a general overview. Facebook will rely on its users to provide feedback. According to Reuters, “Any Facebook member can access these proposals on the site and opine on them over the next few days. The networking site will incorporate people’s reviews when firming up governance policies. Future policy changes will follow the same democratic model”. Through Facebook’s experience with user feedback, it is clear that social media shapes the way in which companies and their audiences communicate and collaborate to have better experiences.
