Facebook Shows Growth in Mobile Social Networking

The mobile web has seen tremendous growth in the past year. The increase of production in Smartphones such as the Blackberry, iPhone and the most recently added G1, have made mobile web browsing easier than ever.  Where are users going to on their mobile devices? An increasing number of users are flocking to Facebook. In fact, Facebook’s mobile site’s growth has increased from 5 million to 15 million users in the past year.

Facebook attributes this success to some of the new features of the site.  The ability to comment on a user’s updates has been crucial to such growth.  Facebook’s blog reports that in the first 24 hours of allowing comments, 1 million users posted mobile posts.  As the mobile web continues to grow, Facebook will continually seek ways of engaging their audience.
