Google Analytics Now Tracks Flash
Adobe and Google have come up with Google Analytics Tracking for Adobe Flash, which will simplify tracking sites created in Flash. According to Google, one of the largest challenges “has been tracking Flash content on their pages. In the past, Flash tracking was not provided out of the box, and every implementation had to be customized. Moreover, there was a lack of standards, and new developers who tracked Flash had to create their own processes to get it working“. Such is no longer the case, as the tracking code will facilitate tracking for a variety of Flash sites.
The new Flash tracking code can be used to track content such as embedded videos, microsites and distributed widgets. Additionally, the tracking code is open source leaving room for future innovation and improvement. Nevertheless, the new code will provide many sites with the opportunity to be recognized by Google. This will definitely change the way in which companies plan on building out their websites.
