Microsoft Introduces Social Bookmarking Function
May 27, 2008 by admin · Filed Under Social Media, Web 2.0
Recent reports claim that Microsoft will launch a preview of its new tool, Social Bookmarks. The preview will launch next month and will let users share information on the web through bookmarking, tagging and linking. Microsoft’s Social Bookmarks will initially appear on MSDN and TechNet. However, the preview will not show the full functionality of the tool.
While social bookmarking tools are not necessarily innovative, they have potential in their power. Social bookmarking creates higher visibility and in turn raises the influence users can have on communities, websites and businesses (just to name a few). And although social bookmarking sites are not a rarity, Microsoft’s advantage comes in its size. Microsoft’s size already guarantees a larger audience, but will the audience follow suite with social bookmarking?
