Mobile Ads Still a Work in Progress

Mobile ads are an up and coming innovation in the advertising and marketing industries. However, much speculation remains on how companies will be able to run ads on mobile devices. Mobile ads have enormous potential in that cellular phones are becoming more and more useful. They are also very personal and are carried around everywhere by owners. The potential lies in the power to reach consumers instantly and directly. One cannot avoid an ad if it is right on their phone.
Although direct and instant contact with consumers is opportunistic for advertisers, it may become an issue for consumers who do not wish to participate in ads. Advertisers have already thought this through, however, and plan to make mobile adsoptional (they will have to agree to these services), and even provide incentives to enroll in receiving mobile ads. For example, consumers who opt in can have different benefits such as increased text messages per month at no additional cost.
Another key component to successful mobile marketing and advertisement is collaboration between phone service providers and businesses who want to run ads. These companies will have to cooperate with each other to have success.
