Niche Markets

Once the decision to implement social media marketing (SMM) is reached, it is necessary to come up with a plan. The first step to know how much you can manage. For some this may be just social networking, for others social networking, blogs and bookmarking. It really depends in the time and manpower available.

Regardless of which SMM channels you decide to use, the most important thing to keep in mind is niches. What niche does your company fit in? Are you going to appeal to mainstream social network members like Facebook, or would your time be better spent on a smaller, more targeted site? Of course you should always participate in the bigger sites, but hitting the target sites is vital to the success of your SMM campaign.

The more niche you go, the more control you have over who you are marketing to. Fine-tuning your target increases your qualified lead results. Before making any final SMM decisions, figure out what niche you fit into and research your options.
