Streamy on Deck to Become Next Big Player

Released as a Beta in 2007 and recently released publicly, Streamy is quickly getting the attention of many users looking for a central hub of news mixed with social capabilities. TechCrunch describes Streamy as “a real-time news reading and sharing site and social activity aggregator”. Streamy is also described as a cross between Google Reader and FriendFeed. Users log in and can view a variety of news articles, blog posts from their RSS feeds, as well as their friends’ activities.

Streamy has recently added more social features which allow for a fully social browsing experience. Streamy now includes chat integration with services such as Google Talk and AIM (built into Streamy’s home page). For instance, if a user wants to share a story from their Streamy page, he/she can IM it to their contact. Additionally, Streamy has added streams from Facbook, Twitter (including Twitter search), FriendFeed and Flickr. Additionally, Streamy is allowing users to sync their FacebookConnect accounts to their Streamy accounts. Streamy has the potential to have huge success, if enough users catch on.
