Why Social Media?

According to a survey conducted by Extra Mile Audience Research, the top reason for incorporating social media into a marketing campaign, (according to 70% of marketers) is because it is a strong marketing tool for products and brands. The second reason (62%) is that their target audience uses social networking sites, the third (47%) is that social media users and always-on consumers gather information differently, and the last (40%) is for customer support and relationship management enhancing purposes.

The study also concluded that all participating marketers planned on increasing their social media budgets within the next year.

To measure the success of their social media campaigns, 93% of marketers admitted to using website data trackers and Google Analytics. 56% use Twitter analytics and other link tracking tools.
