Yahoo Search Pad Organizes the Web

February 5, 2009 by · Filed Under Web 2.0

Not to be outdone by Google Notebook, Yahoo is in the process of testing a new note-taking application for note taking, Yahoo Search Pad. Unlike Google Notebook, however, Yahoo Search Pad lets users take their notes simultaneously within the browser, not through a separate tool. Yahoo Search Pad seeks to organize web browsing for its users.

How does Yahoo Search Pad work? Search Pad recognizes when users are searching or clicking on links related to each other (say, a travel destination). Search Pad then prompts users with a toolbar under the search box for note taking. Once the user chooses to take notes, a box opens up over the search results listing related searches. Users can also cut, paste or add notes from websites not recommended by Search Pad, and can just open it up without being prompted.
