Chicago Search Report 2005

Interactive marketing firm Marcel Media announced the release of "Chicago Search Report 2005" -- the results of an online survey designed to measure opinions of traditional and online business owners toward using search engine marketing (SEM). The survey was conducted among businesses within the Chicago area. The "Chicago Search Report 2005" found that Google is the leader in search, both in personal use and as the pay-per-click provider of choice with its AdWords product. The report also found that executives surveyed showed a clear understanding of the importance of search engines to their business marketing strategies. "The business executives we surveyed were far savvier than we had expected in understanding how valuable search engine marketing can be for driving qualified traffic to their websites. They also seem to understand that qualified traffic ultimately leads to sales," says Kelly Cutler, president, Marcel Media. The report found that there is a focus on qualification. Respondents were more concerned about qualified web traffic than driving direct sales from their website marketing efforts.
